Ouch! It hurts to get ditched, and it hurts more when you have vowed to each other to never break hearts.
Peter Kavinsky, is in love with 16-year old Lara-Jean Song Covey but still has to be in touch with his ex-girlfriend Genevieve and often goes out with her. And at one point misunderstanding occurs and confusion always leads to distraction-- John McClaren.
Now, my question is what would you have done if you were in the place of Lara Jean?
Love is always a beautiful feeling and confusion between love and lust is what our teenage years are all about. It could be fun to stay confused unless it starts hurting your feelings.
This is what happened with Lara Jean when her little sister Kitty (Katherine) sent out letters of all the boys Lara Jean has liked in her life. This is where everything turns upside down; and Peter comes to her life.
What I felt!!
I love the names, every name chosen of each character has a very specific touch to it. Especially, I love the name Lara Jean Song Covey. I love the character of Kitty (little sister of Lara Jean); she is practical, straight-forward and mature for her age. Other characters I enjoyed reading was Stormy (old women from old-age home sharing her experience with Lara Jean) and Lara Jean's dad (the perfect example of a father).
It is a beautiful book, no doubt about that... beautifully written and fun to read on a summer morning with hot chocolate and muffins. Why so much sweet? This book really gave me the cravings for more and more sweet delicacies. Each time Jenny Han (the author) would talk about some delicious cake Lara Jean baked and I would end-up in the pastry shop buying myself a whole-lot of goodies. Yumm...
That's how beautifully, the book has been described.
Peter was the boyfriend though but I enjoyed reading the chemistry between Lara-Jean and John. They made me feel more like old lovers lost in time while with Peter it was mostly twinge of jealousy and doubt.
I also felt the book was bit of a slow-paced. The chemistry between Lara-Jean and Peter took forever to take shape. But then towards the end things started moving ahead and the interest grew. Moreover, I do not like to leave my books un-read once I have started.
This book is a nice read in past-time when one wants a taste of soft love and/or wants to remember some old memories of first-love.
