Truly speaking, I am not sure of how to begin with what I felt about this book. Even now, I am trying to comprehend in my head about what was happening and what was the story all about...
The Outlander is the story of a warrior named Roin. He was a no-one and after the death of his parents, raised himself on his own. His only desire was to become a 'God' and prove his worth. This book revolves entirely on his life and the struggles he had to face to achieve what he wanted.
This book talks about mythical creatures, the wars and the warriors, the adventure of finding the majestic sword, the gods, the starlight and lots of fantastic phenomenons which gives a clear insight of the wonderful imagination of the author. Being so young in age, I have to admit that this book is really fascinating and tactfully handled. The author's mind is full of creative imagination and is a complete package of innovative writing.
I felt that this book was particularly divided into plots (vaguely describing):
Plot-1 was to achieve the sword,
Plot-2 was about the Wars of the Gods,
Plot-3 was Roin helped in the war and achieved his heart's desire,
and finally Plot-4 was finding his lady love.
There is ofcourse more to just what I have mentioned.
Each plot was a story within itself and was interlinked to an extent. Mostly what was not linked had a certain reason which was described later on. Such major connection made between the stories was very neat. I appreciate that.
Not to forget, I love the book cover and each quote associated with the promotion of this book is very mature.

What I felt was I could not clearly visualise the characters. At certain level I could not connect myself with the characters especially Roin. Certain plots felt all mixed up and certain situations as well as characters lacked a background story to associate with.
That is completely my personnel perception. Perhaps, the second book has the answers I am looking for.
I wish the author best of luck.
And for the fact that at such a young age Abhijit Haldar has an immense power of imagination, I rate this book 3 stars.
